>>1811818Any heavy, tightwoven wool blanket for cold climates, thin synthetic or cotton blankets for warm, dry climates and no blanket at all for warm humid climate.
I've got a dutch milsurp one, and the only thing I'd complain about is that it's to small (~2.5mx1.7m) to wrap myself completely, so I tend to kick free through the night. A square shape (like the old swiss and german milsurp blankets) would be better.
As for sleeping bags, I'd say they are worse. My wool blanket is comfortable fro 0 to 20C (with clothes on), and can go down to -10C with a second blanket or groundsheet wrapped around, while the cheap discounter sleeping bag I started with was only comfortable inbetween 0 and 5C (in underwear), even though supposedly, it's comfort range was -5 to 15C. Above 5C, I'd sweat so much it would take days to dry, and below 0, condensate on the outside would freeze and make it uncomfortably stiff.
