I don't seethe, but I do find it sad that when people do decide to go /out/ then they stick to the same exact food they'd have when not /out/.

It's more fun to try something a bit more "back to basics", like grilled mushrooms and fire potatoes. Things that you probably wouldn't eat as much of if you weren't /out/.

Mountain House isn't dehydrated, it's freeze-dried. A VERY different process. If Mountain House was dehydrated, those wheat noodles would take like 2 hours to fully rehydrate.

Unfortunately, I agree. I’ve gone hiking in the mountains for weeks at a time every year for the last 8 years and mountain house is the best I’ve been able to find, but after a few days, I’m sick of it, and after 2 weeks, I want to die.

just eat like 500 of them and then try to not have a visceral reaction when someone suggests them for anything. On the appalachian trail those things are in every single hiker box. When I was thru hiking I started eating ramen all the time because I was poor and wanted to save money for beer in towns. I got so sick of ramen.

Yeah, no. I have some Paldo brand noodles right here. Ingredient list begins, #1. Wheat Flour, #2 Palm Oil, #3 Potato Starch, #4 Salt (nearly everything has salt these days, but it's not the #1 ingredient in anything except pure salt itself).
