>>1816849To eliminate foot-fall thuds:
Bring the outside edge of your foot where your pinky toe attaches down to touch the ground first then roll the rest of your foot down on to the ground diagonally ending with the heel down if necessary but ideally coming to rest on the balls of your feet
To reduce twig snaps:
Always step along the length of twigs when possible, brush them out of your way carefully with leading edge of your foot if there's a few not tangled together.
If you have to/accidentally make noise;
Stop, crouch low and wait at least 30-40 seconds before moving again
Remember trees and underbrush do break up sound a bit so you'll always feel louder than you actually are, being effectively perched right above any sound you make. Don't take that as licence to make more noise though, in fact try to be so quiet you can't hear yourself. Also if you're sneaking around people you want to be more worried about being seen than heard as beyond 25-30m or so leaf rustles and minor twig cracking is going to fade into the general noise of birds, squirrels, trees swaying in the wind and the odd dead branch coming down.
Don't sneak around people though unless they've given you a reason to. That shit is weird and potentially dangerous. Only use these techniques for being quiet enough to let the forest relax around you so you can see all the wildlife or shoot and eat particularly tasty examples of wildlife.
