I am at war with the squirrels and my only weapon is pic related.
I just snapped my second set of bands, should I upgrade altogether ?
I just keep getting daisy brand bands at walmart and it occurs to me that maybe I could do better on Amazon.
Is anyone else at war?
I am finally getting my aim down , should I just stick with what I have muscle memory for ?

How long are the bands lasting and are you storing them in the sunlight? UV is the enemy for rubber bands.

that is realy low, o my fucking god, i have my rubber around a year now and no problem, my father used his rubber more then 5 years but not over used it, find some good quality rubberband, keep the slingshot, get some bearing balls, best ammo for it

OP here, this is exactly what happened and now they have been breeding for years .
Its fucking out of hand and its my own fault
They never crossed me until this year. Now they are after my vintage cars wiring and destroying my garden

Now that you know, you should end the bird/squirrel food stamp program. It'll go back to normal within a year. I've been there, too. I've had some success using water bucket traps near the car. There's nothing more fun than finding all the shorts on your wiring harness. You tried to manipulate the ecosystem, now you have to deal with it backfiring on you.

I did this at the beginning of the year, they were ok with it at first but then the turned on me.

Hello OP. Don't lose heart. You just need to keep your band stock up and keep them stored out of the sun. It's still cheaper than using and maintaining any other kind of ranged weapon, and with the right ammo (and lots of practice), anything smaller than a moose can be put on your plate.

at first it was just because we found one in a burrow right in the middle of our campsite and thought it'd be easy to snare but after spending a few hours on it only to lose it down a different hole i just really want to kill a marmot.

You can get that tubing at a medical supply house. Dip it in isopropyl alcohol to slide it easily yet securely on the slingshot and pouch.
I used to work in the Trumark factory in Boulder for a while. Just a shitty factory job but I was making slingshots! They’re a family owned company that invented the wrist rocket though the patent ran out a while ago. There were a bunch of Hmong working there with the young guys working the machines alongside local hippies and the old Hmong ladies putting the bands on as I described above. I snuck out enough slingshots to arm all my friends with the top of the line folding models. My kid is impressed I worked in a slingshot factory.

Former Trumark worker anon again. I never hunted critters with my Wrist Rocket, just shot it for kicks. I got pretty good but still wouldn’t trust my aim and would prefer a gun, though that isn’t always possible for some. It would be ok for varmints but I’d want a swift sure death for any actual game. A clean hit from a slingshot would pack a big punch but you’d need good aim.
And hunting marmots is wack. That’s like shooting a furry Pokémon.
Again, you can get replacement bands from Trumark but medical rubber tubing is the same thing. Mine lasted for years so I wonder why they would give out so fast.

It didn’t pay very well but was incredibly laid back. As long as you were doing something at a reasonable pace the management was ok. They encouraged you to move around to different tasks to prevent boredom, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc. I was working my way through college and it seemed better than the kinds of service industry jobs in Boulder. What’s cooler than a slingshot factory? I recently checked their website and it’s the same stuff and family owned. It’s the kind of thing that nowadays gets done by third world child labor. If you need a slingshot buy American.

Also i agree with everything save the last part. Slingshots are the shit, cheap ammo, pretty strong, easy to use but difficult to master. Idk maybe invest in some biodegradable pellets and you will have no problem.

Buy or make an over the top slingshot (ott) and make some wide bands with theraband gold. For wide I mean something like 4 cm tapered to 3 cm. Or you can also make it double with x2 2.5 cm tapered to 2 cm.
You are going to notice the difference, those walmart bands are shit.
