>Gear up
Check the Ten Essentials and online lists to see what you need. On a budget? Here’s a complete list for under $350 https://lytw8.com/gear-list

>Book two nights at Timberline Lodge, roughly $150 a night.
One for when you arrive, and one night the day before you leave. This was you don’t have to hike after flying for six hours and riding a bus for two.https://www.timberlinelodge.com/

>Book a round trip flight to Portland, OR
www.Expedia.com Has flights for under $300.

>Take a train then two buses to Timberline Lodge
Total cost is $14 ($7 each way). You take light rail directly from the airport to Gresham (it’s two trains; you transfer from one to the other in downtown), then a bus from Gresham to Sandy, then a shuttle from Sandy to Timberline. These run about every 30 minutes from early morning until late at night.

>Hike around Mt. Hood

The main loop around the mountain is about 40 miles, but there are hundreds of other miles of trails around there.

The only thing stopping you is a lack of will, or money... but if you have gear it’s like $600 for a week long trip. You won’t find a cheaper vacation.
