Yea, my pack weight almost doubles in winter. Not to mention terrain is more difficult. The plus side is that you are waaaaaaay more alone because of this.

Terrain gets easier here. Snowshoeing can be tiring, but going up and down and over microwave sized rocks and big boulders is too, and the snow gives you a nice even terrain to walk up instead of climb

It's winter again here in straya, not as deadly as in the Northern Emisphere but still miss the comfy cold campouts from last year.

Hard to get /out/ as camping areas and park backcountry are still largely closed

Yes. Snow flaps add no meaningful weight/volume. If you’re alpine and a storm comes in, you really want that base buried to stop shit blowing in, and keep tent secure. You’ll get away with 3 season if you’re out of the wind but you won’t be as comfortable as you would in a 4 season.

I've only got a Hyundai i30 for my camping and a fucked leg so hiking is cancer and outback camping is suicidal. Not like I'm /fit/ enough to enjoy it anyway rn.

But there are some decent places, I normally just camp at places with funny names like 'Texas' or the dogshit "waterfalls" near 'Woodenbong'. Both of those places are very quiet if you go during the week in winter, even more so during COVID.

Heck I'm planning to go to Mary River Bush Camp next week once my new camping gear arrives.

What do you even do when you go camping. I mostly just chill, gather firewood, cook, read books, maybe drink some rum and explore nearby and picnic. That and watch the wildlife early in the morning. Kangaroos and wallabies are kinda cool.

I more so just pick places that sound funny because it makes for a good story/memory. Even if the campsite is shit, at least I can remember driving into Texas blasting some 'texas QLD 4385' like a spazz.

As for leg, I fucked it up a few years ago when I fell weird on it at work. Moral of the story, don't trust retards not to spill oil.
