Going car camping tomorrow afternoon, gonna stay overnight in a park and sleep in my car.

I have a Coleman air mattress and an Outback, but it's going to be like 100 degrees all night, and they're forecasting rain so I can't really keep anything but the hatch open.

Any tips for not dying in my sleep from the heat?

Get a hybrid and let the a/c run all night.

The reflective window things are a good idea. We did that years ago, and held them to the outside of our car with magnets.

Not OP. Your autism might prevent you from understanding hyperbole, but I can assure you that it often rains in the Gulf South without the temperature dropping. It’s just hot, wet air blowing in from the Gulf that dumps buckets of rain on us nearly every day in the summer.

As a homeless man who lives out of his car voluntarily, there is absolutely no easy fix. Reflective coverings are a fucking meme, especially when it's humid out. Just deal with the fact that you're probably not gonna get much sleep.

If you can, grab some USB fans and a battery for them so you can get some air circulation. Cooler with ice in it so you can soak a rag or even your whole shirt. You're gonna be wet, oscillating between freezing cold and stifling heat. It sucks. Stay hydrated. Good luck anon.

Of course if you're willing to drop a few hundred on a generator and a good portable AC things change considerably, but aint nobody got the time for that and it sounds like you're only doing it for a night.

Oh shit, I forgot to think of this since it really isn't viable long term for hobos, but for a single night maybe it wont be so bad.

Buy a decent cooler, some copper tubes (or just regular ducts), a drill and those USB fans I mentioned. Basically, you run some tubing through a cooler and slap a fan on the exit of the tube. The idea is the fan pulls air through the tube and it gets cooled as it travels, functions as hobo A/C. It kinda sucks for hobos since you have to fill it with ice all the time and it isn't powerful enough to keep your whole car cool, especially in bad heat, but if all you need is some cool air to help you sleep it can be a life saver. Look into it, OP.

Lock yourself in and let that mf idle with the ac on all night. As long as your radiator doesn’t leave and your cooling system is in good shape it’s not bad for anything.

If it's a car that automatically turns itself on and off at stoplights I think you can set the AC to medium and let the engine turn on and off all night. You may need a AC with temperature control, not sure. Should do OK with the sun down. If I was doing it I would fill the tank and strongly consider a $15 CO detector.
