If you saw it this weekend (during the new moon) the magnitude was around +5 to +6, which is the brightness of Triangulum galaxy. That's pretty hard to see if you're in a light polluted area
I went to look for it on Saturday in a bortle class 4, wasn't able to see it but could pick it up on long exposure
On Sunday I saw it in a bortle class 3, it was immediately visible as soon as you stepped out of the car. Light pollution makes a big difference when looking for something that dim.
