Fact of the matter is, most jobs that get you outside don't pay very well and are often low on the totem pole.

The only thing I can see that would pay well is an exploration geologist for a gas, oil, or mining company.

in my opinion , many of these job thread go about it wrong, its not about what job gives you the most time outdoors its about what jobs gives you the least time indoors, if you get my meaning, working for 10 hours outdoors is worse then working 6 indoor

Depends on what you consider paid well, park rangers can make around 50k a year in some areas.

Read this book if you want to hear about the best /out/-related job. It's a story about this guy who goes out into the mountains to take snow samples as a way to measure air pollution - or some such thing. What it boils down to is that they paid him and some other dude to go live in a cabin in the mountains, and go cross-country skiing all winter long.

Park Ranger here... Starting pay is 50k/year and can get up to 60-65k for a Supervising Ranger... Plus you get free housing... I work 4 ten hour days a week and get 3 days off... All 40 hours spent /out/

How do you get that? I'm in the process of finding out something I can actually do with my life after my entire dreams and expectations fell apart recently due to some personal problems. So basically I'm starting from 0 at 20 years old with a high school education. Are there any entry-level positions for unexperienced people as a Park Ranger? I've heard you need 2 years college in either Law Enforcement or Forestry to get in with little to no experience, or about 2 years volunteer experience with just a High School Diploma. Is that correct? I really want a Park Ranger career, so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Forestry, environmental science, or recreation/tourism schooling would help but is not necessary... Volunteering at the park would be a great idea. If they like you enough they'll hire you on as a part time seasonal... From there just learn as much as you can and build a good relationship with the existing rangers... You can learn a lot from the guys that have been around a while
