What are some mountains on the West Coast US that are free to climb?

No.1827406 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I want to climb the highest mountains in California, Oregon, Washington and I'll probably stop in Colorado and other places as I travel from Pennsylvania. I want to make the trip filled with mountain climbing. I know of Mt Williamson in California but I'm not sure if it requires a permit or not. It says it requires one for overnight trips. I know Mt Whitney and Mt Rainier require permits, but I don't know when or if I'll be able to obtain one soon. It could take a while to obtain.
I'd prefer mountains where I could just walk without having to scale a wall since I haven't gotten into that yet. I am looking for long climbs, so I want high prominence, not just high elevation. So far I've just done Wills Mountain which is a little over 2,000 feet prominence and I'll do Mount Mitchell soon, at around 6,000 prominence. I want to jump right into the 14,000ft+ mountains though.
