"Habit forming" and "mental dependence" are just PC ways of saying "addictive." "Addiction" has become such a dirty word so no one will own up to it.
Quitting cannabis can be deceptive. Going 2 days without is easy, compared to your first 2 days without tobacco or caffeine. 5 days in you declare victory. 2 weeks you'r smoking again and don't really know when nor why you started. I have friends who've had easier time quitting tobacco then cannabis.
