>>1829694>I'll cache water along the way the night beforeCold water will give you the runs. Better to use a single bottle (preferably metal) that'll heat the water up a bit when it's refilled, and getting water from surface sources that are warm (filtered, of course).
>Should I just stick with sandwiches, or try and find something more dense?Something less dense. On forced marches, your digestive system slows down. Anything with too much sugar or starch will give you problems (belly aches, runs).
I'd suggest dried meat or fish (with lots of salt and kaliumchloride), or even just snakejuice. I usually only bring water and a filter, but I'm mostly in the forest where it's not that hot.
Also, avoid anything with acid. If you've been marching for 10h, even a slice of apple can be enough to make you puke.
>And is it better to eat frequently, or a big 'meal' every few hours?Very small portions. About half a mouthfull at once.
It's better not to eat at all, but if you have to eat (multi-day forced marches) eat regularly, whenever you feel like you can swallow without throwing up.
Of course, this all just applies if you're healthy. If you're anorexic or diabetic, you probably need to eat constantly - but then again, you shouldn't push your limits in those cases without medical supervision.
