>>1830254They should do. I used to be in the same boat as yourself, whenever I went hiking I would wear full leather black military boots. They were simple and cheap and once I broke them in they were actually quite comfortable. The only issue was always having sweaty feet like you said.
I decided to go and buy some more expensive gear entirely. I've moved from using the same bag I used for school to an Osprey, cheap leather boots to a pair of Haix boots, a waterproof jacket from a charity shop to an arcteryx jacket. It was ultimately very expensive. What I've noticed from this move is that all my cheap gear was perfectly functional but it had its disadvantages. My expensive gear is just as functional but just aims to tackle those disadvantages. So increased breathability, less weight and easier maintenance essentially.
I would say good boots is one thing I'll never regret just because your feet are the most essential part of hiking. If your bag breaks you just dump what you can't carry. If your jacket breaks you'll be cold and wet but you'll still survive just not with a smile. If you can't walk however, then you really are fucked.
