Looking to buy a new tent.
Just need a 1-2 person camp I can carry with me innawoods.
Preferably something canvas and classy, not some plastic coffin looking deal
Been trying to find something that fits the bill but nothing comes up
Am I out of luck? Willing to compromise, honestly just need a tent I can use all year round by myself or with a partner

Yea, I was just looking into it some more and found some bushcraft LARP videos where they talk about polish lavvus, might be what I go with if I dont find a better alternative
The problem I see with some of these is they dont have a bottom

Your best bet is probably gonna be shelter halves like those laavus or some plash palatkas. There's a reason why they don't really make canvas tents anymore, they're freaking heavy and don't pack down well. I understand wanting that classic look tho good luck to ya.

my main issue is trying to cut out microplastics, that shit can disrupt your endocrine system and chemically castrate you, so I dont really wanna be sleeping in layers within layers of plastic
trying to find a good natural tent, backpack, and sleeping bag, but it seems really difficult

Well idk how well it works but you can make oil cloth with cotton bed sheets and linseed oil. You can see on the out points. I've been wanting to try it and some youtubers claim it works great. With some sewing skills you could make your own a frame tent or tipi.
As for a backpack pic related is and italian mountain rucksack. I got one a few weeks ago. It's not comfortable at all (not the worst I've used tho) and has a weird chain lock I couldn't figure out but it's freaking huge and all canvas/metal

In the market for a tent (EU/UK).
Something somewhat roomy for one, snug for two.
Stable in high winds and rain, and versatility for winter is a plus.
MSR Access 2 seems almost perfect, but it's pricy as hell. Elixir 2 might be the next best thing, but heavy. Any other decent options, apart from MSR?

As soon as you go 4 season prices go up considerably. Will you do much mountaineering above the tree line? A four season tent is supposedly warmer and stuffier the other 3 seasons. Obviously do your own research but several 3-season tents work fine in moderate winter conditions.

As for brands the problem is most gear reviews are for US gear and brands like REI or Big Agnes aren't always sold in your particular Eurostate. I have an MSR Hubba Hubba which is a good, easy-to-use tent.

The chain is to avoid having your shit stolen by other soldiers (friends or foes). Criss cross it through the holes on the border and those on the cover. Apply a lock if you want to be historically accurate, substitute it with paracord, or just do without (you can sew off the rectangular cover, or sew on a water protected pocket for maps and documents (like in ALICE packs). If you remove the cover you can use it to make a central external additional pocket to store an axe or knoife.

It's pretty uncomfortable but I think it can be modded easily with an internal frame of pvc tubes. I store my camping grill and a folded camping mat on the side close to my back to give it a bit more shape, you can avoid having it flop around so much by packing it well and using some quick release straps.

The bottom latches for the shoulder straps suck, but look cool and can be used for hanging the bag to ropes, bags, ziplines.

Instead of oilcloth you can just use a waterproofing spray, so that your bag doesn't gain 2 extra kg.

Look up Italian or German zeltbahns, substitute the retarded heavy sticks with a collapsible metal/pvc pipe. Instead of the bakelite stakes I suggest using wood or old tent pegs.

Thanks. I am mostly going to be using it either in the Scottish highlands (the treeline ends very low there) or just fucking around in central Europe.
I already have a 4-season 4-person tent from Vaude, but it's obviously too much for solo or 2-man excursions.
The Hubba Hubba is also an option, but at the price I might as well just upgrade to a 4-season. I also hear the material isn't as durable as the Elixir which could prove a problem in the windy and rocky highlands.

id recommend getting a 2 person tunneltent. Browse Helsport/Fjällräven/Hilleberg. Most tunneltents are pretty stable in winter/wind conditions if setup right. Maybe see if you can score a good second hand deal on a Hilleberg Nallo 2/ or Unna probably is the tent you want. I personally dont like the MSR tents. Do you really like a blazing orange tent?
For lower budget get pic related or any chink 2p Tunneltent you like.

Yeah I went ahead and removed the chain and flaps by cutting the stitches but I kept them. It has flaws, every bag does, but so far I love it. The two giant pockets on the front are great. I've only done an over night with it, maybe about six miles of hiking over mostly even ground and it wasn't too bad.

Filson's having a damn good sale right now on this cotton twill ranger ($99). There's also savotta's 339 canvas under 200. Coalcracker seems to love his frost river canvas/leather bags but they're about $400 and have no frames.

As Tunneltents are not freestanding and often need a bigger area to setup its harder to find a perfect spot. This can cause some of the walls hanging a bit loose and flap in the wind. However i always managed to get it somehow stable and never really had problems with it being loud. I dont have experience with the Nallo since i went for pic related and am happy with it. Perfect for alpine use and for me alone its a palace.
