hamstudy.org question sections until you know the answers by heart. You only need a 74% on the test to get the license. For that license you can operate on the 2m bands and UHF/VHF. I recommend getting a Yaesu FT60R as it allows you to not creep on bands you are not supposed to be on legally. Some good antennas to pair with it are the Diamond Series and Signal Stick (also Nagoya).
As for channels or intros that aren't angry boomers this is a good start
