Supporting local business

No.183604 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I have always been a fan of supporting local business. But it seems to be more of a hassle than it is worth. Nearly a month ago I walked into my local knife shop wanting to buy an ESEE. I talked the owner down from his RIDICULOUS retail price to a reasonable competitive price. Setback after setback after me helping him with his computers and he FINALLY ordered it last week. Called me in today because he got the package. I get in there and after we opened the box it turned out that the knife I had ordered was out of stock and the wholesaler didn't feel the need to tell him. So he tells me to come in tomorrow and we will sort it out. I wanted him to call them right fucking now but instead he says that we need to let things simmer down for a day or two. No fucking clue what he was talking about.

Also he offered me 2 SOG tactical tomahawks to do some work on his car. Miraculously they were actually in the order but he is now insisting that I leave one in the showcase. What the fucking fuck? I did $250 worth of work on this guys car and he wants to give me a $60 hawk and make me wait god knows how long for my knife? I only saved like $7 buying from him instead of the cheapest website I can find.

I know this isn't world ending stuff but jesus fuck I have had a shitty week and was really looking forward to getting that knife.

General local business, shitty buying experience, hating humanity and wanting to disappear into the wild thread.
