What is an ideal amount of acreage to look for in starting a homestead?

I like the idea of having 10-20 acres but the more land could be more pricey. I just want enough to do the essentials, and some extra land for natural resources(woods for privacy and firewood, wildlife, pond/creek, etc) and maybe an additional cabin for family and also atv/shooting shenanigans

Is there any such thing as too much or too little land?
