I don't have any jerky here to compare, but it should have about the same calorie density as sausage. And WTF kind of poisonn do you speak off? You're a Vegan and it's because sausage is evil meat? Well, I got bad news for you buddy, jerky is dead animal too!
As long as you don't buy bottom of the barrel trash like slim jims, sausage is as bad as jerky, they're both way too salty, and with jerky, they're also way too sugary.
But speaking of salt, that's like a feature of about every type of cured meat it seems (cheese too). I'm having a really hard time to take sufficent protein with me, without overloading on salt. Eating a meals worth of pic related will have me drinking the nearest river dry.
