>>1843875I’m not sure you are ready desu. This late in the season there’s some big crevasses open on glaciers in the Cascades. The Coleman-Deming route has several large crevasses open right now. Making a solo attempt with zero experience is a good way to end up at the bottom of one. If you want to get a volcano in, Adams is a great place to practice with crampons and an ice axe. Also feel free to ask any questions.
>>1844470Backcountry permits are self issue at the trailhead. Fill in the forms and put one half in the box and carry the other half with you. Tell your wife your trip details and the time that she should call search and rescue if you don’t come back. You’ll have cell service on the upper mountain though.
>>1844913>climbing season for the cascade volcanoes is well over by now?You can climb helens and adams virtually all year, and glacier rainier and Baker are climbed well into September and October depending on the year. But the later you go the more confident in your skills you should be imo. I could see the bergshrund from the highway last weekend lol
>>1845124this. Do Adams and practice with your gear, practice crevasse rescue all winter, and climb Baker end of June via Easton ggez
