Just depends how hard core Carl Sagan you wana be. Other peeps get their own parabolic mirror and make their own too. I've seen some really great homemade roll ur own scopes that are awesome.
You're sounding to me that you just invest in a really great set of binocs and go from there, But hit the astro clubs . You'll learn a lot to figure out how you wana go with it.
