The answer is no either way. I admire women who go /out/ alone. But there are far too many dangers in the wilderness. There has been a disturbing trend of women falling off of cliffs since 2010 or so.

I should also add that 20 years ago I knew a guy in search and rescue. I asked him what constituted the bulk of his calls. He thought about it for a minute, then told me that it was amazing how many people stand on the rim of a canyon and just fall in.

Depends where. Totally isolated where you may run into another group in the middle of nowhere is sketchier than a trail that you will run into multiple groups throughout the day.

Generally women will be fine and as a dude I make sure to be extra transparent when I see a solo woman. (I've hey coming behind you, doing ok, have a good day etc, never ask are you alone where are you going..)
