>>1859219>Factually false also I was in the mountains where distance means jack shit, retard.I was being sarcastic, but in general, that point is still true. apart from the really remote areas (Karst plateaus like Totes Gebirge and the really high and glaciated mountains) you're never really far away from civilization.
And yeah, looking at the map, Hemerrergrund really is remote for Austria, but there's a gravel road going up to 2000m asl, so - assuming no thunderstorm or broken leg - you always have a safe and easy way to get back to town, or you'll just walk for 30 minutes to the next high point and you've got a line of sight - and thus cellphone reception - to the Zillertal skiing resort.
Not trying to be an ass, but what you're doing is anything but standard backpacking (in Austria). Pic related is exactly 8km to the east of you, and while it felt totally remote, it really wasn't. But totally enjoyable (as I'm certain your trip was).
>The locals were very friendly, didn't mind me at all. A local hunter even gave me beer and schnapps. That's very unusual. But it seems like that's really a valley without a dozen DAV/ÖAV huts, Jausenstationen and Almen/aka rustical restaurants, so maybe since they can't make money off you anyways, the locals are a bit more relaxed? Because normally, Tirol is really iffy when it comes to wild camping, even above treeline.
