Long story short , I moved to a southern city with a fairly large “black bear” population. This is a big change for us since moving from a small northeast mountain town. Keep in mind i have 2 young daughters and a wife who will stay at home. I do not trust my wife to defend our home with a fire arm if one of these black bears decides breaks inside looking for goodies.
I need a breed that is naturally weary of black bears and easy to train in the role as a protector. This breed needs to be excellent with kids and alert and cautious. I never actually trained a dog to be a guard dog before so any tips on that will be appreciated. Do some breeds have a natural inclination to be cautious around black bears? or is it learned?
