When is the best time to go stargazing and actually see some color in space? Years ago I drove up to Flagstaff about 7000 feet to check out the Perseids for the first time on a whim and I was actually able to see colorful nebula in the sky. Orange, purple, green, etc. It was amazing. But since then I've tried to see the same thing every mid-August and it's just a dark blue and grey. Is there a best time to stargaze and see actual color? I just tried yesterday and no luck.
