What beautiful and historical places do you know in most ancient England?

Some good places I have found (pictures don’t do them justice)....

- Rochester

Marvellous medieval Cathedral and Norman Tower. The tower is open despite COVID. Not far from London. Great high street, clean and lots of historic buildings.

Another great place for mountaineers is Wasdale head. There are numerous water falls and streams nearby. It is the closest hotel next to Scafell Pike. Terrain around wasdale head I found difficult, and it was very wet even in summer.

Wasdale head is on top of Wastwater lake, a very large lake popular with kayakers. Their is one path that circumnavigates the path but I found it very difficult. Again, the terrain is quite rough and precipitous around scafell pike.

Lingmell (pictures above) and Scafell Pike I felt where some of the easier summits. Other routes and summits, such as the great gable and the corridor I found to be precipitous with lots of loose rock. The ascent to Lingmell from Wasdale Head I felt was much more pleasant despite being extremely wet and mostly bog. I wore sandals and I didn’t have waterproof boots.

South Mymms is also another Magical village not too far from London, full of beauty. The church is perched over the village, and can be seen for miles around. The Blackhorse Lane pub is worth a stop, and also happens to lie along a great trail leading to welham green and North Mymms.

Crackpot Hall, just east of Keld in the Yorkshire dales. You go past a couple of nice waterfalls on the walk up there, and the whole walk from keld to muker is lovely. Just past here is another waterfall with the ruins of an old watermill. You can sit behind the ruins, right in front of the waterfall and be completely hidden from the path.

Your best bet is to seek out the local Chicken Tikka and Doner Kebab shops. This eastern cuisine belongs to Eastern traditions millennia older than the savage aboriginal Anglo-Saxon "culture". Shropshire has some good stuff, pic related is Lilleshall abbey.
The Wrekin, Long Mynd (including Cardingmill Valley), and Shopshire Hills AONB are good for walking/hiking too, plenty of old ruins dating back to the iron age.
Ironbridge Gorge/Coalbrookdale has some cool shit too.
