>>1865227>I have NEVER seen a thread where someone multi-day backpacks through nice lush deciduous forest, its always the same rocky, above-treeline dry brush or all conifersCan't really speak for America, but as an Euro, you simply can't do a multi-day hike in forests, unless you want to cross multiple highways, railroad tracks, towns, cities, industrial zones, farmlands and large rivers.
The only way to make some distance without too much civiliztion is to go up to the mountains, where it's not fully settled.
Don't get me wrong, I like forests too, but when 90% of your forrest is spruce monoculture with a dense network of logging roads, it's not really giving me that /out/-feeling I'm craving.
>>1865029>Well an /out/ist showed interest, we met and we ended hiking the Anillo of Picos together.More like anilingus picos…
But seriously, great job and well done on not getting murdered or raped by some /out/ist!
Looks like a fantastic area!
There's so many cool things to do in Europe (and probably with solitude too), but it seems like everyone just defaults to the alps. I mean, the alps are fantastic, but it's really hard to find wild and solitary spots. I really should explore all those other spots (Pyrenees, Apeninnes, Tatras, the various mountain ranges of the Balkans and probably a bunch more ), but living in the Alps, it's always such a hassle to drive for hours (or even fly) to some mountains, when I can just start walking at my front door (pic somewhat related, but an hour+ from my front door).
