Sleeping bag advice

So i'm considering doing a trip backpacking for a year and I am planning on camping most nights, I want a sleeping bag that packs up super light and really small but one that will last me a really long time. One I can use for most of the year too.

What sleeping bag would you recommend?
I'm not too concerned about price so long as it lasts. What kind of price range would I be looking at?

depends on temperature, but most good sleeping bags start around 250€
Also down/synthetic makes a huge difference in price/size

For that frequent of use you're better off getting cheap chinkshit and throwing it away when it gets nasty. You can't take care of a bag properly longterm like that.

If you’re using it heaps, I’d stay away from a mummy bag for comfort. Also you can unzip it if you want a blanket. I have their alpine bag (Sanctuary) too, but prefer this unless it’s cold af. NZ$370 is cheap as even with shipping, and they’re great quality.
Use a liner for long term camping to avoid it getting too mangy.
Wash with down wash and tumble dry Every 2-3 months to keep it fluffy and warm. Water resistant shell is a must.
Keep some duct tape on hand too. If camping every night for a year, you have a 100% chance of cutting or burning a hole in it. Get good quality cloth tape and it’s a long term solution.
If you look at their packs, get AzTec fabric, it lasts a lifetime.
Merino gear is awesome value. The rest of their stuff is on par with pretty much anything else, though they don’t do real heavy duty shell layers anymore sadly. I’m still wearing a Prophet + pants from about ‘02. Got hammered for years when I was guiding, still wear it regularly and performs as well as new.

Good. Down ain't cheap.

Like others have said, it comes down to temperature. What's the lowest average temperature you can expect (e.g. during winter), and for how long will it last? If winter is short, go with a colder bag plus a warm liner you put in it during winter. In summer, throw out the liner for a cooler bag and less weight/volume. If you're backpacking up north and winter lasts 6 months, go with a warmer bag.

In any case, a liner just to absorb your body oils and keep the bag clean is definitely needed.

Brands and quality vary everywhere in the world. See which brands are available in your neck of the woods, do some googling, and avoid cheap brands. With down you get what you pay for.

Some premium brands that focus mostly on sleeping bags that are lightweight are Western Mountaineering and Zpacks

They both make great packs, and they are made in the US which makes them better for the environment.

Nanga is a good premium Japanese sleeping bag brand as well

Also, you should consider the sleeping pad you will use.
If you are going to be out consistently as you say, you should try and get a hardier sleeping pad. You don't need a closed-cell foam pad, and can use a hardy self-inflating instead if you'd prefer extra comfort, smaller pack down size and around the same weight.

Off the top of my head I know of the Armored V by Klymit which is on sale
I'm sure there are others if you do more research

They’re great for staying warm, but they’re just not super comfy.
Unless you always sleep with legs parallel to each other, in which case you’re golden.
