I've been thinking about this for a while: what are ways to get salt that don't involve being near an ocean?

Let's assume you are in a boreal climate and don't want to randomly walk around licking the ground and hoping you find a salt lick... what would you do?

I remember reading about burning plants for "vegetable salt". Aside from that, I think I'd miss salt the most in a survival situation and be unable to do anything about it.
