bare ass mowed lawns suck, no diversity whatsoever. just a raped landscape.
I'd keep the immediate vicinity around my house well trimmed, like 6 feet at the most. other than that, I won't mow. I'll just let shit grow natural and plant flowers. let those wild flowers, shrubs n grasses grow as they please and I'll plant all kinds of extra shit. i might weed-eat or mow parts of it once a season or once a blue moon if i feel like it could use a kick in the ass, because eventually a monoculture might form on its own just as a natural process (i can already see this happening in some natural meadows nearby, where one particular species of weed just takes over everything). I'd maintain some narrow paths through the garden, so that it's walkable.
