What makes the most sense in that scenario is matching the hatch and using crawfish/shad colored lures with deep diving cranks/jigs. Trying to catch fish (legally with rod and reel) while fishing anything but the most effective method you can use at a certain time is nothing but hipster garbage

You can sure, but if you live in the southern US then saltwater catfish go nuts for bait being soaked inshore.
A lot of people on the TX coast use artificial lures because saltwater catfish are annoying to catch.

Just fish whatever is effective on the water retard. On almost any lake, spinning is better. I live 10 minutes away from a blue ribbon trout river and have not been outfished by a spinner in years, but most people on the river dont have a clue what theyre doing, and most spinners cant catch a trout when bait is banned (as it is on the best streams in Canada).

This is a joke right? It is banned as well on the best rivers in canada. If youre half decent at fishing, you dont need this stuff- nor should you want it to be legal. The only people who use it around here are foreigners who have no fishing license and no idea of what the regs are.

Who would have thunk. A possible reason for this law is that it would ultimately dispell the illusion that trout are mystical fish that have a very limited pallate. Once when most people would catch word of rainbows bitting worms (or them bitting out of reaction only during spawning season), no one would even give a fuck about them (especially for sport) anymore and the dnr (or whatever alphabet soup wildlife organization you have) would ultimately lose funding for stocking invasive species in fresh bodies of water (can't have that!)

Lol. Also, you'd need to prove that you were using fish attractant on that body of water. The burden of proof is on the person making the claim and not guilty until proven innocent. And if there was residue on the lure they confiscated? They would need to prove that it wasn't from a previous fishing trip on a body of water where fish attractant is legal. If not? Well, then the system is ultimately corrupt to the core.

I once snapped a brand new st croix fiberglass rod (for bass fishing) while getting out of my boat and it was literally just sitting flat while it happened. Nah, the point of cranking rod with more fiberglass in the composite is flexibility to absorb some of the shock so the hook would not rip right out of the fish mouth as both the lure and the fish are moving at high speed. You don’t need sensitivity as much with a crankbait as fishes typicaly hook themselves with crankbait and no hook setting is needed. I don’t have a dedicated rod for crankbait though

The fact that it is good is because of stocking and digging out streams to be deep enough to actually hold them. It has absolutely nothing to do with using fish attractants or live bait and the fact that fishing for yellowstone cutthroat is catch and release most of the year (and in fact there is no law against it anyway).

Use red worms or some other small worm that bass won't bother with it (and possibly can't see it) and be sure to have it on the bottom of the creek. I usually just use a little split shot on my line with a size 12 hook. Creek chubs are kinda spooky so I wouldn't use a bobber and would reccomend (instead of gobbing the worm on the hook) that you thread it a few times on one end only. Sportsfags are so retarded that they think that clean waste disposal on a lake/river is bad. This is not a good thing because when you don't do this, you are disrupting the natural recycling process of nature as little as possible and are giving a little back what you took out (which is exactly why so many game fish and baitfish are stocked everywhere so heavily). Which is why I think using things like baitfish (you caught at the water body), corn, bread, etc should be legally usable on any body of water because it does no harm to it and can contribute to the ecosystem. Literally no harm is done in me throwing a few cups of corn in a river to catch bluegill and having a shore lunch after and directly after disposing of the unused portions of the fish back into the water as fish food.

So what if if very few fish get gut hooked and end up dying in that body of water? It didn't harm the ecosystem in doing so and fed hungry fish/animals (that may have died otherwise). The real reason why they ban it in so many places is because it would inevitably discourage tourists from going there (although admittedly yellowstone is one of the least worse when it comes to this). Want the evidence? Yellowstone national park doesn't allow disposing a fish in the water when within 100 feet of a boat dock. Which has absolutely nothing to do with protecting the fish.

That's because in fly fishing, you almost always rely on site to tell if you've got a bite. Also, fishing is slower with lures compared to bait and thus decreases your chance of gut hooking a fish. Not to mention, that it is very very difficult to gut hook a trout because of their narrow mouths (in aportion to their body) prevents that from happening. I have never gut hooked a salmon/trout while using a spinning rod and reel for them in my life.

There is a pond by my house loaded with plecos, I want to go over there with one of those frog spears. A few places I have seen some of those orange cichlids, look like midas cichlids, but never caught one. And then anon brought me to this pond with these jaguar cichlids that are feisty.

I hear stories about oscars but have never seen one. From reading online, it sounds like they used to be all over in Broward and Dade and then a cold front came through one winter and the oscars couldn’t handle it but the mayans made it and took over.

Yeah well I hope you can make some original content and not just be another guy that just records himself catching fish because that kinda shit doesn't get me to watch or subscribe, I like the ones that do like I do, that explain what tackle they are using for the fish they're targeting, include every thing that will be on the rod and reel, and explain why you like that setup.

Where I fish are well known places but a lot of people who fish their just don't use the proper setup for that area so I like to do videos of me explaining my setup and then show me catching the fish.
A lot of the guys that don't want to give out their spots are likely the ones who don't have hardly anywhere to fish because here in Florida you can pull up Google Maps and search for Fort Myers, Florida and see all the water pockets we've just here in Fort Myers alone.

Get a pfleuger president and a Berkeley lightning rod. It will run you $100 but it's worth it. There are a lot of options in this price class and some will prefer a slightly more responsive action but spool braid with a fluoro leader and you'll feel everything you need to. Anyone ever do the Manistee in late October? I expect temps in the upper 50s and evidently there will still be good steelhead in the lower. I'm hoping to fish the lower with a guide for my first steelhead outing and then canoe & wade the upper for smaller trout and whatever else bites.

I went camping this week on a major north east river hoping to catch at least 1 trout while there for 4 days, and I had no takers. 2 Rainbow trout followed my spinner all the way to shore and didn’t commit, and so did a native brook trout which I’m particularly upset about. I saw fish leaping from the water multiple times, but nothing wanted what I was casting, whether it be trout magnets, kastmasters or spinners. Not sure why this happened but pissed me off happened like at least 4 times I'm thinking its because it was over spooled or just spooled wrong, I was gonna drive back to Bass Pro Shop but I said fuck it I'll just try to deal with it I'd rather do a bit of fishing before I have to work the weekend.

Where you at? There's a lot to learn and you can kill yourself easily. Most places where it's popular have a club. If that's not an option learn about surface intervals and frenzel equalization. Learn fish regs and realize fish look a lot bigger under water. Budget way to get started is a cheap snorkel set, a used surfing wetsuit, a couple pounds of weight, a knife and a polespear. When you upgrade get the proper freediving gear, the long fins, open cell wetsuit, freedive computer with surface interval timer and low volume mask may seem like a meme, but they make a difference. Number one thing for safety and better diving though is a proper surface interval, 2x your down time or 2 minutes, whatever is longer. And don't be one of those chodes that thinks they need to kill everything.

So he shouldn't have been fishing there but the thing about Goliath grouper is you can catch them but you're not allowed to take them out of the water. First one i caught after moving here, I released it because I didn’t know what it was. I felt so bad after that. One of my local lakes def had a dent made for a few years because I took out a good amount of adult sneks.

After catching a handful of them, you start to realize why they’re so bad for the environment. They hunt smarter than other fish, they hide in grass or rocks and pop out when they feel or see something swimming above them. When they have fry, the parent stays nearby and strikes at anything coming close (pic related may have been a momma, I was running a Mepps and see a ton of fry jumping at the surface and the adult slammed the thing), and then the juveniles get good at hiding fast, this one lake has a bunch of rocks along the shore and the 6”-10” young ones will back into a little hole and pop out as minnows swim by and run right back into the hole, made for a fun time running UL gear through there.

You can still fish conventional gear, you're just supplimenting your overpriced jdm gear with overpriced specialty gear. A 6 weight echo base combo will set you back ~$160, and be comfortable from bluegill up to decent bass, carp, trout, and most other fish up to ~3 pounds

They're are relatively small ones, 1-2 pounders at best, if even that, but apparently they have caught 5 pounders there. Definitely had to hand line them up since our little ole 6 ft poles were struggling to bring them up.

Where? In Canadian lakes trolling walley divers has been deadly for them. 15-20 fow. Sometimes i use the CDS7s and troll 25+. In American lakes with excessive weed growth, targeting weedlines (14-16 fow) with slipp bobbers or countdown lures, or trolling with bottom bouncers and worm harnesses anywhere from the weed edges to 35-40 fow around 1.5-1.9 mph is very effective. My absolute favorite method is anchoring in 21-28 fow, and using jigs and gulp minnows.
