They also have some hostel-type accomodations available. If you ski, the mt. Baker one in particular is good, because Baker is just a little bit too much of a drive to daytrip from Seattle.
The demographics at the mountaineers tends heavily towards people who are a little too new or a little too socially awkward to have a network of people to go outside with otherwise, along with a cadre of volunteers to herd them. Not to assume too much, but it sounds like it might be your speed. They also run a publishing house for outdoor books.
