>whatthe Pinhoti trail is a 335 mile trail, starting near central Alabama and ending in Georgia where it connects to the Benton MacKaye trail. This would be a hiking trip, with ~15 mile days, maybe more depending on logistics.
>whereI’m in NOLA, making most of the trail about 8 hours away. We would start with the southern sections, though we might skip sections 1 & 2 because they’re mostly road walks.
>whenLate winter and early spring would be best. Lower temps, fewer bugs, after deer season.
>whoMe, 38M/504 (New Orleans), and someone else who’s local and isn’t a complete weirdo. You should know what you’re capable of physically and have some experience hiking. I’m not a pretentious asshole but I don’t want to be stuck in the woods with someone having a shit time.
>howLogistics are still tbd. There is an online guide that breaks the trail down into sections (13 in Alabama, not sure about Georgia). That leads me to believe that there might be parking at at least some of those sections. We would drive two cars, leave one at a trail head, drive further up the trail, hike back to the first car, then shuttle back to the second.
