Anyone else deal with chafing here? What are your strats?

I will be looking into long distance hiking in the future, and i like to dress (seriously) warm, so it's a big problem for me.. So far Ive found that formfitting briefs are a good start

That used to be a problem in the past for me.
I switched to Merino/Silk Underwear and that was it.
Maybe your trousers are the problem, have you tried others?
It should help, but no guarantee. Maybe ask a doctor?

Change underwear more often.
Don't wear clothes that constrict so much, this way the air flow helps you not sweat your taint off.
Change underwear type. I find tight boxer briefs that flex well work great, provides a barrier between your thighs

Im 6 2 and 150 lbs, the chafing is occurring between my pants and my legs, not my legs themselves. Chafing is a serious problem for me. Chafing is also a problem for pro cyclists who are incredibly thin because the constant rubbing of the fabric on the soft inner thighs as they pedal for hours on end. Especially when the fabric gets wet and crusty from sweat it can majorly score the inner thighs and produce chafes.

Have you considered nylon or polyester? Exofficio are highly recommended (94/6 nylon/spandex) but I actually prefer REI’s brand (87/13 poly/spandex).

My balls stick to my thigh from sweat and that leaves my thigh chafed and raw. I shake them loose often, but it'll go right back. I've used gold's powder with middling results, is there a better solution?

I use leukoplast tape for any area that's started chafing. The stuff is fucking miraculous, just slap it right the fuck on there over the top.

I have the double shorts...like the compression with the reg shorts over them ..that I run trails with..thay with some powder and I am set..just don't be strain of the powder, nothing worse than stingy chaffed balls

Spandex underwear (compression shorts) with as few seams as possible.
Also wear them inside out side the rough part of the seam is away from your skin.

Commonly yes but even relatively lithe people can chafe in hot humid environments. Particularly men with their dangle bits. I used long form fitting silkies for hiking/biking/running in summertime Louisiana (all season actually). The humidity will destroy people here. Like 89F with 70-90% humidity at 8 AM. I'd walk my dog in the morning for 1.5 mi at a moderate pace and would sweat through my shirt. Real exercise would completely soak through my clothes. Like, could wring them out into a bucket and half fill it/couldn't tell if I just jumped in a pool. Chafing was a real problem, especially as I'm a particularly hairy dude. And no, im not a fatty fat, I'm no gym beast but I have single digit body fat and stay pretty active 6'3 195lbs

My advice is to lose weight. I realized I was chaffing at 6 flags when I was 20 because I had become a fat fuck with no thigh gap. I realized the problem was eating like I was still playing school sports.

Yea im gonna get these in wool soon atm im wearing merino wool long underwear basically the pant leg still abrades my thigh since every step i take drags it across the thigh flesh but since its wool it never really gets crusty like cotton... Hopefully the formfitting wool briefs will be even better when they arrive. Just 2 pairs cuz I dont give a carp about hygiene.

It feels gross but I've learned long ago that patroleum jelly is the best. It is waterproof so it wont sweat off to quick. It creates a nice barrier. I've used it for trail runs, hikes, distance runs. Works great. Go commando as well. Compression shorts are ok to a point. Slather that shit in between your but cheeks, your inner thighs. Feels gross but you will never go back.

Someone in the army told me they would biy pantyhose and cut the feet off and wear them like shorts for a cheap semi reusable antichafing method while rucking. I tried it once and it worked pretty well but they did slide down in the crotch because dick and balls so I chafed some anyways but that was like 20 miles in a day.

oh yea Ive heard from soldiers that they chafe constantly but yea back in middle ages people wore hose which wouldn't have the chafing problem since they stop at the area where the chafing occurs, I'm not clear on what they were wearing on their groin instead or why they switched to pants

I get blisters on my thighs from rubbing on the pants seam when walking a lot. The only thing that helps when it gets to that point is a piece of bandage/cotton tissue with some ointment or antiseptic powder secured by climbing tape. Anything else with a weaker adhesive gets unstuck very fast.
And yes, getting the tape off is very painful due to all the hair. It's like waxing.

Same, I used to be skinny naturally when i just ate whatever i wanted. Now that I'm older and the metabolism slowed down i'm 20 plus pounds overweight and I started chaffing on my longer hikes. It sucks but if i wear boxer briefs it's no problem.
