>>198202It doesn't apply to left/right handed bait casters specifically but to techniques not used by most anglers.
If you have a bad hookset on a large fish and the hook is likely to rip out before enough pressure can be pulled from the reel to let line out via the drag system you can quickly pull the line with one hand giving the fish more room to tire out safely.
Some people prefer that method while others prefer reeling backwards. It's mostly used on lightweight spinning setups while finesse fishing.
>>198203>I still don't see what this has anything to do with your retrieve hand.it doesn't. I was merely explaining that there are ways to do stuff at a higher level that regular anglers don't do and I gave an example as you seemed to not understand how the highest level of competitive fishing worked.
Neither of us are fishing there so it doesn't really apply to us so there isn't a reason to argue over it. I can use both right and left baitcasters perfectly fine which give me advantages when buying secondhand reels off' craigslist and stuff. If you're comfortable with lefthanded reels then don't change.
You aren't going to go to a competitive bass fishing forum and have them tell you theres only 1 way to fish and I'm not going to tell you that either.
