Does /out/ have any advice on living as a homeless person? Any survival tips? It's around 15°C where I live now and it's only going to be getting colder and colder as winter approaches.

Get a stick and a knife
Learn to make fire and build an insulated place to sleep.
Tan roadkill for Skins Make furry hats and shit.
Learn to make cordage, Make flint blades on strings, little pendants, cast some cans into shapes with some sand and a fire.
It doesn't have to be good, just enough so that Karen and her friends can show a trinket off that they buoght from an Authentic mountain man.

Does the US let you get such a thing as a pedlars certificate or street trading licence?

We should have something like this in our mountains. We used to for sure, but I don't know if they still are there in their classic style.

Yes. But in winter it will be a problem.

What country do you live in? Maybe you can ask around, but try not to look like a bedraggled gypsy, look presentable. My grandfather's farm in Romania has some people with no other home, that he employs for various purposes. Just prove yourself useful, and prepare for labor, I guess.

Sometimes you can get the food from employees at supermarkets if u ask nice but a lot of the time they won’t cuz it’s a liability so u might have to dumpster dive but there’s no harm asking

Coffee shops around me give away hot water for free if you ask nicely. use that to your advantage and get dry foods like cereal and grains (oats) and live off that. bread can be pretty cheap too, especially stuff that is ready to be thrown out. check up on bakeries and see if they will give you the day old stuff for cheap or even free. Try to get a very good sleeping bag and a thermal mat. If you are going to be urban, try to at least keep a gym subscription so you can have access to warm showers and easy water. Keep yourself clean and presentable. Have a library card from your city. You could spend there most of the days of the week for at least reading or just being warm.

As it gets colder, McDonalds is a good place to sweep in. Try to buy at least a cofee or even the 1 euro burger. If you are not looking like a total hobo they won't bother you. (Hope you get a 24h McDonalds tough...they are few the smaller the city is).

Dumpster diving should work. In Germany is supposed to be illegal but its quite easy and common...always on Saturday night, after 8pm (when they close). There is also some churches that keep some food in an accesible fridge where people put what they think they wont eat but is still good.

Dress up like a student, chill at the university library all day. Obtain a cheap laptop before you become homeless. If gyms are open in your area panhandle up $10 for a monthly membership and shower DAILY. If they're closed, then use the family-sized public restrooms or something to stay clean. You cannot start stinking or you'll get kicked out of the uni area since you'll be too obvious.
Depending on how the security/camera situation is, you can sometimes squat in certain uni buildings and not be found out. Closets in classrooms in particular can work well, as long as you have an alarm to wake you up so you can leave before class starts.
Lookup resources in your area as well and see if there are any employent assistance programs or anything like that. Also make sure to get on food stamps right away, the $200 per month you'll get as a hobo for food stamps is enough to feed you all month if you don't splurge on stuff, so you shouldn't need to shoplift food.

What's your story? Most people on this board are American and I would be more lenient to an American becoming homeless since they could get kicked out/fired for supporting le orange man. I'm not trying to waste your time but I'm from Eastern Europe (Romania) and could actually provide you with a rural place to live if you're not a degenerate. Most people here go homeless after they burn through their money with drugs, alcohol, gambling, etc. I'm imagining culture in Slovakia is not that different from culture in RO.

Go to prison. Two nutritious meals a day, bed inside heated/cooled cells, TV, access to a library. Bring a hair clipper and get yourself a job inside the prison. Become a member of the food staff (get paid at least $30 a month). Get yourself 1-3 months sentence and build yourself from there. This is way better than being in the streets.

How do i feed myself when homeless? How can i get a temp job? Can i feed myself with foraging?
Im in a similar situation as op, and ive got myself a sleeping bag, a bivy, and a tarp and ive camped with them a couple times so im not worried about shelter but i'm still clueless how not to starve

Ask an older priest from a local parish or even go to a monastery yourself and ask around, tell them about your situation. Monasteries are at their roots work and brotherhood communes after all.

I was homeless for a while. The brunt of the pain was taken cuz here I got into a church shelter program. I got to sleep at churches at night. At day time I browsed my phone on an indoor shopping mall park bench.
