Has anyone ever experienced a "sunscreen is bad for you" individual? My friend is one and I met another while /out/. I don't know whether to laugh at them or consider that it might be bad for you.

I would assume in my feeble mind the outcome from serious sun damage outweighs the potential for one type of sunscreen to have some negative shit in it to just never use the stuff. Are these people total faggots or no?

yeah a boomer came up to my camp after seeing my gf and me applying it on each other. he then proceeded to try to lecture me on how it causes cancer and its killing my skin. i then told him ok have a nice day man he got mad but just walked away throwing his hands up. with people like that kill them with kindness and use sunscreen i rather avoid skin cancer than other wise

Sun cream is legit. I didn't apply any to my feet on holiday and they swelled up to the point where I struggled to walk. If you live in a hot area then regularly apply suncream, don't listen to schizophrenics that claim it's bad for you.

My experience with sunscreen is that I really only need it if I'm somewhere where it's not very hot outside. I don't need it to goof around in the desert in Arizona, except on my nose, but I need it if I'm skiing or swimming. I also heard that you don't get as sunburned if you avoid wearing sunglasses, because they trick your body into thinking it's in the shade when it isn't. I don't know if the reasoning is true, but it seems to lessen the degree to which I sunburn if I don't wear sunglasses.
Finally, if you take a lot of Glycine before and after sun exposure, your burns aren't as bad and recover faster.
I'm a freckled blonde who tans like a snowman, so I was rather surprised to discover that I wouldn't sunburn as easily in Arizona compared to, say, Whistler.

Get a (somewhat) natural mineral sunscreen, apply to your face, and don'tworry about the minisculeamount of chemicalexposure. I usually don't apply any to my legs, and I wear long sleeve sun shirts with a hood, or my sahara cap.

Sunscreen is the cause of skin cancer. You have to understand that there are two types of Uv rays througout the day and sunscreen only blocks one. Your body has a natural defense and this interferes with it. Also you cannot beat nature you need to cover up or get shade. Med student. My dermatology book warns for SPF higher than 20. There are possible carcinogens in sunscreens, and sun protects against a lot of cancers (colon, breast, NHL, ...). Most cancer from sun is not dangerous (basal cell carcninoma not dangerous at all, squamous cell is dangerous but a pretty good cancer to get if you are getting cancer), and melanoma isn't related to cumalitive sun exposure. For men melanoma happens on the back most frequently, for women on the thighs. Only related to intermittent high sun exposure when your skin isn't prepared for it.

Use your common sense. Avoid sunscreen as much as possible and let yourself gradually tan. If you're a bad skintype adjust with some more sunscreen etc. Sunscreenless is the way to go, but not possible for everyone and your skin needs time to adapt.

this is my post about it. I watch suncreeners get burnt while I tan because I get the evening sun along with the noon sun and if i feel like i got too much i never shower till a day or two later

I haven't worn sunscreen since my mom stopped putting it on me. I've also had no problems. I've hiked through the middle of death valley. I spent a year in Iraq. Ive lived in Florida and Texas. Grow a pair.

The best sunscreen is clothing, the second best is a mineral based sunscreen (like zinc oxide) that you actually put on, will stay on, and you remember to reapply. If you're paranoid then stay away from "chemical based" sunscreens that are meant to be absorbed by the skin, which don't even work as well and are only popular because they don't leave a white cast and are very cheap. Anti-sunscreen people are dumb cunts, zinc is good for you.
