Just bought a mitsubishi delica L300 to support my /out habit.

Beyond the fact that these are a nightmare to order and find parts for, I've heard great things about them in general.

Any fellow /out bros drive one? What do you think?

Great choice anon, I always smile when I see one of these. They're not that uncommon here in Australia and parts are probably cheaper than where you are. Filthy suburbanites might laugh at you because it looks like it'll blow over in the wind, but they are true beasts in the same way a 40hp Korean tractor will ford a river

I saw one a few days ago full of ~20yo guys with a shitload of camping gear on the roof towing a small boat. It looked like a heap of fun

It's got one built in. Despite it looking super top heavy, i understand that the majority of it's mass stays pretty low to the ground. Roll overs are definitely a possibility though

I've obviously had a pretty deep love affair with them aswell. 4x4, diesel engine and tons of sleeping room in the back gets you absolutely anywhere. Looking forward to many great adventures.

My first car was a 96 Civic manufactured in Mexico, and the only radio station that worked well was the Latin station so Juan Carlos was his name. Silly, but sentimental.

they are much smaller inside than they appear, its why i never bought one despite it being diesel and 4wd. its barely enough for a bed and storage for gear. if you get creative with slide outs its workable but its really not big enough to live comfortably for extended peroids.

heres the thing, theres very few 4x4 diesel campers on the market exist so they will always be hipster vans memetaxed no matter what. americans hate diesel so you either get diesel or 4x4. its really rare to have both.on a budget you could find a 7.3 diesel e350 and do a 4x4 swap or you could get something JDM which has more diesel/4x4 vans and just resign yourself to paying out the ass for parts(realize that they share parts with a variety of vehicles that were in north america so not everything will be expensive)

this is the reason why syncro vanagons sell for insane amounts of money, they are in a goldilocks zone of parts availability, servicability, customizable and reliability. car makers absolutely do not cater to the demands of the consumer, they force people useless types of easily producible cars like crossovers via advertising

I used to have a factory camperized poptop for a few years. Great /out/ van. The turning radius is pretty tight, so I was able to get on to a lot of atv trails and switchbacks that wouldn't be accessible to NA vehicles.
I sold it mostly because it wasn't happy in Canadian winters, and parts are a bitch to import.

I had a L400, absolute fucking lemon unless you throw serious cash at it to get them back to 100%. Change out everything rubber including the bushings if they are fucked. Clean the injectors, replace the fuel pump, change the sparks. Go ham. If you have the ability to do it yourself good luck.

Very capable off road.
Not as top heavy as they look. C of G really no different to a ute with canopy.
Was a bastard to load our kayaks on.
