If you really really want to live the lifestyle, move to bumfuck Appalachia, get a high pay job like a truck driver where you get a good schedule like 3 on 3 off or something like that, and instead of drinking all that big money away, put it towards buying a small plot of land, and live below your means however you can. If it means a shity apartment in the city then so be it, but take half of evey dollar you make and save it. And on your off days, go to your property. You can start by parking a small little old camper on it, and in the mean time start clearing a spot, and building a cabin. Depending on where you are, you may or may not want to pay mind to building code, because in some places people would take great joy in running a mans dream for a gay building violation. Start as simple as you can. Then once you get a nice cabin, then maybe look into making a well for water. Then maybe solar panels and batteries to power some lights and such. Then maybe expand your property and make some space for gardens. Obviously if you are still living in town, you'd have to plant some crops that don't need much maintenance. Gradually gain confidence as you go on. Id recommend planting apple trees and berry bushes as soon as you buy the property, because then in a few years you'll reap your harvest. Make cuttings of the apple trees and expand your orchard. In 15 years you can have enough apples to can or dehydrate and make a good breakfast. Spend as much time on the property as you can, as many nights as you can. Hunt deer, rabbits, etc. Learn to skin, process, and store them. Once you've amassed enough money and skills, diversify your worth so you can withstand inflation, and just live as self sufficient as you can. That's what I'd do. The hardest part? Not letting yourself get sidetracked and lose sight of your dreams, falling victim to sunk cost fallacies
