If someone is living on a couple acres with no sewage hookup for an extended period of time (think hermits, ted kaczynski, etc), what do they do with poop? It takes a really long time to decompose in catholes and fucks with your water supply, I've heard stuff about composting it but it doesn't seem to have a 100% success rate in terms of killing off pathogens. Plus, piss is an objectively better source of nitrogen if you're going with the fertilizer route. If you're willing to put in the work a septic tank might do, but then you're just prolonging the inevitable with sludge build up. Is there any sustainable, sanitary solution for human waste disposal in the woods?
