How do i get over paranoia while camping solo? Ive gone camping with friends and been fine but going solo i end up tweaked out setting up tripwires around my camp and then sitting by my fire with my rifle ready dead silent all night. Is this normal?

When I was on the AT I just slept with earplugs in. Had a handgun nearby but didn't expect to use it, but it does give you a big sense of confidence.

I also watch movies/TV on my phone until I'm too tired to give a fuck about bumps in the night. But it's just animals dude and it's their home. You're the intruder so just put earplugs in and go to sleep

oh anon there's nothing in Mi'sippi that's gonna harm you, maybe some minute chance of a roaming Panther. only thing you'd have to worry about is crazy people but that seems very unlikely. i always setup a good 10-15mins from any trails and hide myself away, so even if someone knew I was around they'd never spot me

That is how I am if I'm out alone. I've never done more than 1 night solo, all my 5 day trips are with gf. Years of living around enwurds means any small unexpected noise means trouble and just gets amplified solo.

Granted I live in a country with zero predators, but I've camped out in both Canada and Africa which very definitely did have bitey things around, but shit man, none of that stuff really wants to hurt you.
I wish I had some pics of the lion prints outside my tent in the mornings, but my camera got stolen because Africa.

Come on man. A skinwalker would have to survive on like 1500 calories a day since they have enough brain function to talk. There's nothing that's that calorie dense out in the woods, so they would have to lure humans into the woods somehow. Considering they don't have a good grasp of the human language, this would be hard to do. Then after killing the human we would have to preserve the meat somehow. That requires a lot of salt which isn't just readily available in the woods. It's just physically impossible for skinwalkers to exist out there.
