wasn't any reason to do that. copperhead bites are relatively mild and despite all the hysteria, there's never been a case of one causing a human fatality. I wear Converse Chuck Taylors virtually everywhere I hike and have had dozens upon dozens of snake encounters but never even came close to being bitten. when you say you were almost bitten, do you mean the snake actually struck at you and missed or do you mean you saw it and panicked?

Oh shit didn't think this thread was still around. OP here again. He shot it with his .357 after I jumped away from it. It was right next to Murray Lake on the top left of the place. We were up there trying to scope the place out and maybe find somewhere to post up when the bear season starts in dec.

And stop with all this copperhead protection stuff. It came at me as I walked by it. I didn't really want to kill it but he has been around so many snakes in alabama and his brother got bit bad so he went a little overboard with it. We were both surprised to see one literally two feet from the water as we were walking around the lake.

I was not in line of fire. We are not fucking morons. Second my ears were not ringing and he was complaining about his ringing but he wasn't a pussy and didn't go deaf.
