I am not that anon, but I like small blades and small fixed blades. I can solve about 90% of my daily tasks with a 5cm blade.
Sure, everything becomes a bit more awkward, especially food prep on larger items.

But pretty much everything you do with a knif that's not outright bushcraft, you can do with a small knife.

I wouldn't recommend this for a novice shooter though, the narrow fork, with low tips will generally lead to hitting the forks themselves or your hand. to start with use a bigger, wider frame and move down as you gain skill and confidence

I usually do take a larger knife along if I'm planning on doing a lot of knife work, but my little neck knife goes everywhere with me all the time. I never go /out/ without it, which was the point of this thread i believe. In any case, I've used that tiny 2.5 inch knife to make bow-drills and start fires, split wood, whittle utensils and other wooden tools, prepare food, and many many other outdoor tasks. It's proven adequate for everything and is absurdly easy to carry. That's the thing about making your own knives--you can make them exactly the way you want them so they will do exactly what you want them to do.

Not OP, but think of it like this. Why the fuck would you want to waste all that time MAKING cordage?? Cordage that is not as strong as paracord. Plus paracord barely takes up any space, you can put 50 feet in your pocket, if you break it down you can have 350 feet of cord to use.

4mm polyester is shit, takes longer to break down into smaller pieces. 550 is superior for how much room it BARELY takes up, though it is not as strong as that braided shit you like, it is still very strong.

Plus if braided polyester is sooo much superior, then why is pretty much every military force use paracord instead?

If that's your sole criterion for cordage you're an idiot, I don't know why you'd even do that unless you really had to because then you don't have paracord anymore. Just bring twine if you want twine.

Probably because they have miles of it for parachutes and don't really care that it's weaker, it stretches, snags and abrades easily and loses strength when wet.

It actually doesn't lose strength when it is wet. Para cord, though rated to 550, is actually rated more close to 700 pounds. I myself love all forms of rope, but 550 cord happens to be my favorite. Just cause I love being able to break it down nicely. Which there has been many times I have broke down 30 feet of 550 (I carry 30 feet at all times) used one of the strands for fishing, for small shelter building, for sewing etc etc. I have found many more uses for 550 cord, then I have braided polyester.
