>>193500Think of it as a simple xy graph, x=how likely it it that you have to use this item (aka, what injury, is item general or specific) ; y=how bad is it if you need it but don't have it (aka, how expensive is the item).
good band-aids is dirt cheap, get them. Asherman Chest Seal is 'expensive' and very specialized (you will also most likely not be able to use it).
.
My advice though, get what you know how to use. The best ER equipment is pointless if you do not know how to use it.
If you want, get a first aid-kit right now that you feel comfortable using, but don't buy things that you don't even know what they are.
Take a few classes at the local community college or the Red Cross. Both usually have some good courses in basic first aid or at least can tell you exactly where to go (they can also give you info on first aid kits, just saying). There will also be other places that offer courses in your area, but it really depends where you life.
If you make it a habit and take a new community college class as soon as you finished the last on you can become a full fledged EMT in a short time.
If you know how to treat something, you know what you need to do it; and this means that in a pinch you can improvise.
