This. Subreddits individually trend towards being good and useful. Well to be specific I'm learning to ride an electric skateboard and I'm not doing half pipes and loop-de-loops I'm just cruising and where I live there's plenty of open space, empty parks, etc. all around where I live to practice until I get a feel for it. Also a ton of fire roads and dirt trails going up into the mountains

Anyone recommend a good underquilt/hammock setup? I'm looking to do a nice winter hike innawoods, and I feel like when the snow drops it'll be better/easier to just hang between trees than deal with setting up a tent in the snow. I use a DD ¥ungle hammock with a Snugpak underquilt. DD has their own underquilt now which looks just as good. I'm so warm with the underquilt that I generally just use a fleece blanket in there during winter. I have two of the fitted tarps (it comes with one but you can buy an extra). One on the bottom to keep your quilt dry and as a windbreak, and one on top. A couple times I left the top open and it's gorgeous being under the stars in winter, however that morning sun grinds my jimmies

pic is quilt with the tarp wrapped around it, it wasn't mad cold but it was probably about 15ºF at night

Not too bad, about the same as a tent and an ultralight sleebin bag I guess. I lash my hammock to the outside of my pack and then usually stuff the quilt inside but on the bottom or very top because it's light. Hammock pic includes both tarps, the lashing straps, arches, and the bugnet canopy all inside

It’s a nice pack - would rate 10/10. It carries better than my Osprey Atmos, and is much easier to actually pack. I’m not sure how Osprey measures their pack volume, but someone’s measurements are off if this is 70L, and the Atmos is 65L. This HMG pack has much more room to spare than my Atmos ever did.
Worth the money (to me) and I’d recommend it to anyone who has cash to spare.

Quilt looks about right for colder temps. Even if you don’t like the hammock for whatever reason, the quilt can still be used on the ground.

Dutchware Gear sells everything; complete kits, hammocks with integrated bug nets, and bodies only. They also make a ton of different types of titanium hardware for various suspensions.

There’s a lot of options. You really can’t go wrong with a net less hammock (no bugs in winter), a buckle suspension (easier, especially while wearing gloves), and any hammock-specific tarp. The big cost will always be insulation.
