I mean you are pointing at very isolated examples as if they were common and obviously they are not. People who weren't using alltrails get lost hiking as well.
Also, I think plenty of people carry around some sort of charging brick for their phones. Phones are mostly designed for aesthetics and not for long battery life.
You are failing to also consider many people who would have gotten lost if not for alltrails. There's no news stories about those people.
