I don’t enjoy killing deer, but I do it so I can eat meat. I’ve never liked trophy photos nor people that take them. Not religious or larping as a noble savage. I’ve just always found those photos of a hunter holding a dead deer by the antlers to be extremely off-putting. It’s a dead herbivore that you shot with rifle. You show the animal in a pathetic, dead, gruesome state. I don’t know why you’re smiling or taking a picture. To me it’s just a necessary evil, but I don’t relish in it or take happy pictures. It has ALWAYS weirded me out going hunting with others who get overly excited about the kill.
I could understand excitement if your life is in danger without the kill — like in an actual survival situation. But for meat hunt, it’s just a necessary evil to offset factory farmed meat purchase. Nothing to get excited about. Just a chore, really.
