Are Hobenailed Boots a good choice for hiking or are they outdated? I have a pair of rubber soled hiking boots that I've been using and have been looking for a possible upgrade. I was looking for some useful surplus and came across boots that have hobenailed soles.

What about Jackboots? Are they something I should look at or are they outdated as well
