Will this be an all around decent every day carry knife?
I really beat mine up on a daily basis but sharpen it often . My folder is just taking too much abuse though so I need something sturdier , maybe a belt carry.
What do you guys like?

No, but I am in the trades and do remodels so its always something different. Nice to have a good blade for all sorts of stuff .When I camp, I honestly dont reach for my knife as much , mostly for food prep and fire starting
I rarely do battoning for riving but do use the technique occasionally for crosscutting smaller live branches

the thin tang is going to do poorly as far as durability and resistance to abuse. if that's your main goal, look for one with a wide full tang sandwiched between two scales. not to mention those weird grooves and the super narrow handle are just a pain to use for extended periods of time

Just get a fixed blade knife. 3-piece handle will be Les ":^)" Stroud Certified Durable (TM).

Depending on the "abuse" you put your knives through, and your climate, you might want to consider a hidden tang construction.

If I were a batoning fag, I'd get a Condor bushlore. As it is, I do finer tasks and use my knife in cold weather so I prefer a hidden tang. I have a Helle Fjording and a Karesuando Wolf for those, and I don't ever use other knives.

I have the SPEW, I bought it for fishin and ended up using it every day at work because it was comfy on my belt when I had it horizontally, easier than having a folder in my pocket. Held up well, the Minimalist is a little bit smaller and I almost bought one after the SPEW sheath got all worn out from like 4 years of daily use, but the wife bought me an Esee Izula. Also I broke the tip on the SPEW trying to pry shit, so don’t hold that against the company.

That’s a popular knife, handle is a little odd shaped but it works. Not the most fancy steel but can’t go wrong for like $20 on Amazon.

What are you doing with your folder to beat it up? Unless you're batonning firewood you should be fine if you buy a good folder. If you tell me how you use it I can recommend some.

I never really thought about EDCing a fixed blade until I had my little CRKT. For the same blade length, they’re less bulky than a folder, they don’t get loose or get a bunch of crap jammed in them. I put the belt clip sideways so the knife sits horizontally between my left pocket and my belt buckle with the handle facing towards the belt buckle and I can grab it with my right hand way faster than I can dig through my pocket for a folder and open it. Plus sitting horizontally, I don’t notice it at all, it’s not another thing in my pocket bouncing around, the handle doesn’t dig into my sides when I bend and move around like when I tried to carry a knife with the handle pointing up. I bought the knife for fishing but ended up using it at work daily because it was easier than using box cutters.

I have that Esee Izula now which is great, but I think I’m going to get the Candiru next, it’s even smaller.
