>>1949302>IsolationFleece, for lack of alternatives. Wool is too heavy, lofted insulation like primaloft degrades with time. Possibly down, which degrades less and weighs practically nothing. But the shell will degrade. Might be you come out ahead by carrying two down garments, no idea desu. For some climates, you don't get around it anyway.
>WindshellAka your normal jacket and trousers. Synthetics are best for durability, but durable synthetics have poor breathability. Polycotton of various compositions is best. I'm frankly not sure how nyco and polycotton compare. Heavy weight, but not too heavy or you lose breathability.
>Water protectionWaxed cotton for single item durability (but it's heavy). Or you carry several silnylon ponchos at the same weight. Hard to tell here.
>BootsLeather and rubber, sewn together, nothing else. Why? Cushioned souls crumble or delaminate. Synthetic linings or cordura outers are ALWAYS less durable than pure leather. In fact, don't get a lining, just thick leather. Look at austrian memes for reference and go from there.
For construction, a jackboot might be better than a laced boot, but the upper is not usually the problem with boots. The sole is; it will either fall off with age or wear away (hopefully you're walking enough for the latter to happen).
Also, but this is conjecture, hobnails might make for a more durable sole altogether, but I'm not sure how they compare. They can be replaced, but I don't know how easily so.
