>>1963250I have a bachelor's of science in forestry with a minor in GIS (mapping and satellite shit)
if you have this degree you are basically guaranteed a job. I had a job every summer, making between $14-17/hr + OT
graduated in may during all the shutdowns, and I STILL got a salaried position making $54k/yr + benefits + truck + free land to camp/hunt/whatever on that the company owns.
you will work hard. if you are not physically fit the job will destroy you. when it rains, i's pretty cold and miserable, but you get used to it. the summertime is great and you really feel like a manly man outdoors guy going to beautiful untamed wilderness where it's just you all day enjoying the trees and nature
once you get certified as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF, just in california though), you can expect to make ~$70k+ starting, which can occur 3 years after graduating
you will live in the remote parts of the country, most towns will have very little cell service or quality internet, travel will be difficult depending if you live on the coast or not, and certain things will be expensive.
dating is difficult, as these poor rural areas often don't have many young and successful or educated women, so you either need to import a girlfriend or just date a grocerystore clerk
